Middle East Program
Every year, a group of monastics will travel to the Middle East and share the practice of cultivating peace and joy with the people of Palestine and Israel.
Our intention is to listen, learn, and share mindfulness practices with the people who live in Israel and Palestine. To bring joy and peace with each step and breathe where it is needed the most… During our journey we will hold retreats, days of mindfulness in nature, public events, and visit local sanghas…and eat a lot of hummus! 🙂

It is also part of our global vision to nourish peace in this part of the world and to continue to host young people from that region to Plum Village France. We hope to nurture a community of compassionate listening and healing.
We have found that these young people are eager to practice and discover new ways of seeing and dealing with their reality.
Of her journey to the Middle East in 2019, Sister Mai Lam wrote:
“In our three weeks we learned that we do not have any solutions, nor any advice to give, but that we can listen and show others how to listen, first to their own suffering, second to the suffering of their neighbours, and maybe one day they will understand that their enemy also suffers.”
We would like to ask for your support in creating conditions to realise this aspiration. We are looking to raise €8,000 for the monastics to travel to the Middle East in 2023, and €14,000 to bring young people to Plum Village in 2024.
